It was only a matter of time before expensive procedures like Botox started losing popularity thanks to the current economic climate. What was one considered a necessary beauty expenditure by some has now found it’s place in the unnecessary luxury category.

According to an article in the National Post, sales of Botox, injectable wrinkle fillers, and even breast implants fell sharply in the last quarter reported by California pharmaceutical company Allergan Inc.

It doesn’t come as a huge shock that breast implant sales are down (by about 12%), but many are surprised that people are even beginning to cut inectable wrinkle fillers out of the budget, especially since many had incorporated them into part of their regular beauty routine. It has generally been the common belief among those in the field that in weaker economic times, alternatives to costly plastic surgery would thrive. However, these recent figures seem to dispute that.

So, if plastic surgery if off the table along with Botox and other injectables…what does that leave us with?
